More Money Raye

A new portrait for Money Raye.

New Photo: Trezure Empire

Here’s one of our new images for artist Trezure Empire. This was a lot of fun to shoot. Trezure came in with her own references for this one. She was really inspired by two Grace Jones album covers from the 1980s. We used that inspiration and created this neon-fierce styling. Lots of fun.

The Monroe music video is nearing completion. We’ve got the final okays and will be making adjustments. It will be posted up here soon!

I still have a backlog of photos to post and I’m excited to be writing again. I’ve got two new scripts in the works and a revised script making the competition rounds. Stay tuned. Lots of exciting things coming through the pipeline.

Music Video pics: Monroe “Pieces of Me”

Here are a few more pics from the music video we shot last Sunday for the band Monroe. These are random shots from throughout the day. Monroe had created a very New York song, so it only made sense to shoot it in the city. I’m really excited about this video and I can’t wait to show it to you. We’re working on the rough cut now and it should be released within a couple weeks. Special thanks to producers Muriel and Kai for putting together a great shoot!

Pics: Monroe music video shoot in NYC

On Sunday we shot the music video for the alternative, pop, indi, rock band, Monroe. Running around NYC with a small crew and shooting some amazing views was a lot of fun. Here are some random pics I squeezed in throughout the day:

Brooklyn Bridge

Behind Wall Street

Washington Sq Park

The Highline

New Music Portrait: Money Raye

Right now we are hard at work on a new music video. The concept has been approved and we have hired the crew. Now, we are only a few days from shooting. I’m really excited about this concept and can’t wait to show it to you.

Until then, here is a new photo we did for Money Raye. You might remember Money Raye from the Nike ’95 Airs’ music video we shot for him back in October. We teamed up once again to create a new promotional image for him. Check it out:

New Music Portrait – Ignacio Rivas Bixio

So things have been really busy these past few weeks. We shot 4 photo shoots with some local NYC artists that I’m really excited to show. We shot a hilarious video for a world class advertising agency. And last but not least we are in pre-production on another project which I will announce shortly. Exciting stuff!

Here is one of the new images we shot for New York drummer, Ignacio Rivas Bixio.

2012 Music Video Director’s Reel

2011 was an amazing year. Not only did I get inducted to the Nikon Emerging Photographer Hall of Fame, but we also released four music videos. I’m very excited to compile them all into my 2012 Director’s reel. I’m hoping that we’ll be able to release even more videos in 2012. Special thanks goes out to all those who worked hard and helped out on these projects. Check it out the reel below or check out the YouTube version here.

You will always be able to find the highlight reel on my Director’s Page.

Beginnings

Happy 2012! I hope you all had a great New Year. We’ve been busy refreshing the portfolio and shooting some new projects. I’ve refocused my photography into a more focused style which will roll out over the next few months. I’m excited to show you one of the first images for this new style. Check it out:

I had a great opportunity this past December to shoot the incredibly talented producer, Dave Sentongo. This was shot in Chicago’s northwest corner of the loop in the middle of a freezing cold night. It was so cold that my hands were shaking as I pushed the shutter button.

More images of the revamped style/portfolio are coming soon. Check out the Photography page to see the redesigned galleries and the images that made the cut.

Runner and the AAFL

Happy Holidays, everyone! I hope you’re having a great December. Things are busy here at Dannyjive HQ. We’re wrapping presents and doing photo shoots in Chicago. I can’t wait to show a few.

Until then, here’s a really cool thing that happened a few weeks back. I was invited to have my “Runner” short script read with the Asian American Film Lab. It was a workshop and I got a chance to hear feedback on the piece. It was a great help as I make revisions and prepare to shoot it. Here are some pictures from the event.

Special thanks goes out to the readers: Jennifer Betit Yen, Young Jeohn, and Louis So. Also a big props to Young for pulling double duty for reading and doing the photography. Check out more of his work here.

Behind the scenes “95 Airs”

Check it out. Nick Weinstock put together this quick behind the scenes of the 95 Airs music video we just released. You can also get a peek of the dialog scene we cut out of the final video.
