New portrait with Arts Manager, Pamela. Another addition to my Young Professionals series and my first official shot of 2013.

We actually have a behind the scenes image from this shoot:

This is exactly where we shot the photo. As you can see it’s a tiny hallway, about four feet wide. Right behind Pamela is the wall of found images. The key light with a beauty dish attached is on the right side of the frame. I later added an extra speedlite to the floor to bounce some light around and fill out the shadows.

It’s probably the smallest place I’ve had to shoot in so far. I had to set the camera on the counter top and hover right over the sink to take this shot, but I think it turned out great.

New portrait with Design Manager, Montse. We shot this at the Cristina Grajales Gallery in Soho. This is a rare, behind-the-scenes look, at their back office. It’s filled with tons of books and art. Who wouldn’t want to work here? The place looks amazing.

Hello 2013! Wow, time flies so fast. It’s hard to believe that we’re already half way through January. 2012 was a great year for portraits, but I just realized that I didn’t show any of the video projects I did last year. This is mostly because the projects had non disclosure agreements attached to them so I can’t show them to the public. This year I want to change that. I’m going to make a strong effort to not only do client video work, but personal video work as well.

In the meantime I’ve got a new portrait to show. Above is a new portrait of Kim for my young professionals series. She doesn’t know what she wants to do yet with her new master’s degree so I don’t have a title for her. You’ll just have to trust me that she’s a young professional. We shot this on Roosevelt Island in the new FDR Four Freedoms park that was just opened up. It was a freezing cold day in late November but she toughed it out and we got a great photo.
